Animal Care Centre Online Pharmacy and Prescription Policy
You should use caution if you choose to purchase your pet's medication online or from a catalog, and we ask that you please refer to our "Online Pharmacy and Prescription Policy" below for more details.
It is the policy at Animal Care Centre to not deal directly with Internet or catalog type pharmacies. Unfortunately, many of these pharmacies have decided not to comply with rules and regulations that govern their practices. Some medications have been filled without the consent of the prescribing veterinarian; sometimes medications that are not licensed to be sold in the USA are shipped to owners, which is a direct violation of federal law. These are just two reasons we choose not to reply to faxes/phone calls from these pharmacies.
We will, however, be happy to provide you with a written prescription for your pet, as long as they are currently under our care, have been examined within the last 12 months, and are up to date on any required laboratory testing. Your prescription can then be used at your discretion, in the same manner that you would handle an Rx from your personal physician.
Please note: Online/catalog pharmacy shoppers should be aware that the manufacturers of these medications will not uphold any guarantees regarding the efficacy or safety of medications that have not been purchased from a licensed veterinarian. We stand behind all the products that we sell, and if the need arises, help you deal with issues that you may have with those products. We cannot assist you with refunding or replacing products purchased through an online pharmacy other than our Vet Source pharmacy.
Sincerely,
The Doctors and Staff of Animal Care Centre
Purchasing medications online? Use caution.
Finding these and other items on the Internet has often allowed us to not only have the product delivered directly to our door, but also to find it for a lower price in most cases. Of course, cheaper is not always better, and when it comes to finding great "deals" on important items like medication for Fluffy, caution should always be taken.
Veterinarians believe in the products they sell to their clients, and will stand behind them if they do not help you and your pet. The prices for most items in a veterinary clinic are also fair and competitive for today's industry. When purchasing from a veterinarian, you not only have the product guarantee, but you also have the piece of mind knowing that the veterinary staff is there to recommend the right products for your pet.
So before you click the "Buy" button for your pup's preventatives, please refer to our pharmacy and prescription policy above to not only prepare for your purchases, but also to learn why shopping online may not always be such an advantage.
